Monsieur Doumani ‘Hey you’
A music video by Cypriot band Monsieur Doumani. The lyrics are an old poem by Kyriakos Karneras, an illiterate shepherd poet from rural Cyprus. In his poem “Ε άδρωπε”, roughly translated as “Hey you, human!”, Karneras observed the futile rat race of material and monetary accumulation that had taken over society in the 60s and 70s, and as an old wise man gave a stark warning against consumerism. Monsieur Doumani brought this poem’s message back to the surface with their music, for a new generation.

‘Imagine’ is an Educational Program on Anti-racism Education/ Education for a Culture of Peace. The project was created to increase contact between the two communities in Cyprus and to promote peace, understanding, and anti-racism on the island.
